Passages & Procedures
All participants in the same level will present the same, pre-selected passage live at Convention. Click on the appropriate level to see, print, and practice the passage to be presented. Although the translation is provided as a learning experience, only the paragraph in French will be read for judging.
Level 1 Selection
Level 2 Selection
Level 3 Selection
Advanced Level Selection
Participants will present their selection for judging before a small, live audience. The intent of this competition is to give participants an opportunity to know a piece well and present it with a level of confidence which could only result from intentional preparation. That said, students may ‘walk-in’ and present the passage with little-to-no prior preparation. Costumes are permitted but not scored. Participants must bring all necessary props with them to Convention. Only a chair will be available.
Eligibility
Student must be a non-native speaker of French. Good judgment should be used in determining if a student is a native speaker or not. Students compete at the level of French in which they are currently enrolled or at a higher level, but not at a lower level. If a student has joined his/her French Club, but is not currently taking French, he/she may compete at the next highest level of competition. For example, a student who has completed two years of French may wish to compete at Level 3. If there is any question about how a student should be classified, contact the President club before submitting your entry.
