Video Competition


Overview

Student(s) produce and submit a short, theme-related video for judging.

Number of Entries

Maximum of one (1) entry per school.

Judging

Based upon five (5) criteria of equal value:

1. Quality of all written and spoken French
2.
Quality of the recording, both audio and video
3.
Quality of the mise en scène
4.
Relevance to the Convention’s theme
5. Creativity

Time limit

60-90 seconds (minimum and maximum time limit penalties will apply)

Important Information / Rules

1. The video must be the original work of current French students, created for the purpose of this year’s Convention video competition.

2. The video must showcase this year’s Convention theme.

3. The video should only contain written/spoken French.  Use of English will disqualify the entry.

4. No names or references to the school may be audible or visible on the video.

5. Content which is deemed sexual, violent, or racist by the judges will disqualify the entry.

6. Sponsors must obtain permission from any recognizable individual appearing in the video and must also obtain permission for elements in the video not owned by the participants, including but not limited to logos, trademarks, music or other audio.

7. Use of copyrighted material will disqualify the entry.  Paying for a downloaded song or CD does NOT give you copyright privileges.  If music is used, only original music or tracks from a permission-to-use / open source can be used.  Need music licensing assistance?  Go to http://www.freeplaymusic.com

8. All music and other permissions must be attributed on-screen at the conclusion of the video.

Procedure

The video should be upload on Flip (formerly Flipgrid) by midnight Monday, February 26, 2024, using this link: Video Competition and your school’s name.  The top 3 videos will be screened during the opening ceremony!
