Overview
For those students wanting a little extra personal challenge for the day, the immersion oath offers an opportunity to commit to speak only French while at Convention.
Number of Entries
No limit.
Procedure
Any student wishing to participate will do so during the Opening Ceremony. Interested students will raise their right hand and repeat the following oath aloud in front of the whole assembly:
Je m’engage
à ne parler
que le français
toute la journée.
Participants will wear a Mardi Gras collier to mark themselves out. If a student happens to break their oath during the day, they should simply remove the necklace and return it to the front table in the Ballroom. No shame–only “Good job for trying!”
(The oath does not apply to emergency situations or when speaking to non-French-speaking individuals, bien sûr! )
