Nouveautés 2024!

In addition to the regular line-up of engaging opportunities (t-shirt competition, scholarship competition, poster competition, group skit competition, choral competition, scholars bowl, immersion oath, art room, game room, and movies), here is a brief summary of changes or additions to be aware of for our March 1 Convention:

  1. In celebration of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, clubs will compete for Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals during the events of the day.
  2. As part of the Sports theme, we will have a fencing demonstration, a pétanque game, and other fun games on the schedule.
  3. In order to use our time more efficiently at the Opening Ceremony, entries for the Video Competition will be submitted and judged prior to Convention. Only the top three videos will be screened at the Opening Ceremony.
  4. Instead of offering tests at different levels, the Written Test will be theme-related and the same for all levels.
  5. Individual Oral will be offered in one format, not two: All students will present the same theme-related passage (provided on the website ahead of time) live at Convention. Students may rehearse it, dramatize it, or simply present it extemporaneously (‘walk-up’) at Convention.
  6. The Dictée will be presented live at the opening ceremony, for all to participate in, if desired; however, different levels will have different words blanked out of the passage to fill in. Results will still be judged by level.
  7. Presentational Speaking will not be offered.
  8. The music for the dance will consist of recent entries in the Manie Musicale playlist.
  9. The popular Conférence (presentation) will engage students on the topic of the revival of the Jeux Olympiques by Frenchman Pierre de Coubertin.
  10. The Breakout Room will be offered at both lower (Levels 1 and 2) and upper (Levels 3 and Advanced) levels.
  11. A passeport will be available for those students wanting to participate in the maximum that French Convention has to offer. Teachers may use it as an incentive to encourage student engagement throughout the day.

We hope that you will plan to join us!
